2021 Red Bull RB16B car work in progress

Creativity has been on low lately, I did manage to make this one thought. It took me quite some time and it is long way from finished but I felt I needed to share some progress with you. I had different approach with this one compared to my previous work. I know this isn't revolutionary it's just that I never did this before, "what" you say? Right, modeling this one I did very low poly base model and then smoothed everything upp, letting application take care of most of the topology and edge loops. Idea was to try and see whether this would speed up process in some way, It did not, on contrary I had to manually fix a lot of smoothed areas and sometimes manually reduce poly count. Nonetheless I'm quite pleased with result so far.

Sauber C21 from 2002 formula 1 season

The latest of the 2002 cars to be finished by me and Kedy89. Unfortunately still unreleased due to circumstances. The final product will feature different track-specific textures and shapes including even a few different diffusers. The car can also be found on Sketchfab

McLaren Mp4/18 WIP

 I know I already have too much on my plate, but sometimes you get inspiration to make certain cars and it is hard to say no. Especially when the car is Adrian Newey's 2003 Mclaren MP4/18.The problem child in his collection. There is a fascinating story behind all troubles around this car. I.e Kimi being blamed for errors it caused and later refusing to drive the car, Newey refusing to give up on zero packaging design, and later even saying MP4/19 is the same just a lightly reworked car. All that making it probably more interesting than it probably would've been, having it been racing.
Despite all that this car wasn't turned into 3d model many times, that I'm aware of. It maybe has something to do with the fact it only run in preseason testing with some amount of secrecy which surely didn't produce a large number of photographs. I am very pleased with how my model turned out.
McLaren run different solutions to their problems, mainly on the rear end and exhaust. Besides this one I was thinking about making the one with an exhaust chimney.

Work In progress, 1999 cars

Let start with the latest one I have been working on, the Prost AP02 car from the 1999 season.
There are lots of cars from that season that I would guess I would choose to make before this one, but here you go. It is not pretty, I have now been staring at it for some time and I can't longer say it is ugly either.  It is an intriguing little car that's what it is, a very unique car, and very challenging to recreate accurately.
The car is still in the early modeling stage, I did manage to find some useful images of the cockpit dashboard, and other similar details that will help in finishing this car.


 

Next in line is the beautiful Williams Fw21 car also from the 1999 season. I did modeling on this one simultaneously with Mp4-14. This is actually the car that got me into making 1999 cars. After watching a Youtube clip of 1999 Nurburgring race. Williams stood out from the field in how short the cars seemed. I never liked its livery before but that pointy nose, high diffuser, and sheer aggressive look of the cars made me want to recreate it.
The car is almost completely UV mapped. Same as for the Prost AP02 I did eventually find few images of the cockpit interior, which is completely reworked and hopefully much more accurate than the one before.
For these cars, I decided not to create engine or any parts hidden undercover but instead add more details on visible parts. My hope is that in that way keep poly count relatively low but still have a high detailed final product.

2002 Jordan EJ21 preview

I think this was the first one of the 2002 cars to be finished and released. Textures are made by great Tobi Kederer aka. kedy89 while I did modeling. The car is around 30 000 polys, not much for today's standards. But looking at renders I think it doesn't lack in quality compared to some high-end models.
Except for the cockpit interior, that is the area I would choose to improve, but not much else.
